Hello Centennial Stream Viewers, This Post #2 3/16/2016

There have been some MASSIVE moves in the Denver sports world since the last time I posted. And I have much to talk about!

To start off, Peyton Manning has Retired! This is not much of a surprise, we all expected him to make a decision to either take a back seat role and backup, or come out on top just as another great Bronco once did, Mr. Elway. I admire Peyton for sticking with it for all these seasons, He tried his absolute hardest during his years in the NFL and will continue to be an inspiration for generations to come. So we lost our Hall of Famer and the QB of the future Brock decided to leave for greener pastures, Leaving the Super Bowl Champs with a big hole at Quarterback. This is Free agent season, so this is expected of a super bowl team to loose some talent, but they stayed strong and kept some very strong Key Players. Giving Von Miller the Franchise Tag, as well restructured DE Demarcus Ware to a new deal freeing up some crucial cap space for the upcoming season. Unfortunately  up and coming Players such as Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan and Safety Veteran David Bruton have also been picked up by other teams, I wish them all great careers and thank them for their work that helped bring Denver a super Bowl.

But Enough of the old, in with the New! As a Broncos fan I have never been to worried about Free Agency, In other words, I have total trust in John Elway to put bring in talented players who are expected at day one to produce and show their worth. In saying that I really like new acquisition to the team, Mark Sanchez previously played for the Eagles. He is a former 2009 First Round pick of the Jets, but never seemed to fit in the system built around Defense and running the ball down the gut. He then went to Philly, where he had a notable start but dipped off under the unconventional Chip Kelly system. Now he is here in Denver with a Hall of Fame QB inspiring him to do his best and is in a system similar to when he played his best in College at USC. This can be a great deal for both the Broncos (his cap hit is only 4.5 Million), and he is getting fresh start with a good system with plenty of offensive potential. Next up CJ Anderson, has also re-signed with the broncos stating his readiness to get back to the super bowl and defend the championship.

As for the Nuggets they have been looking very good recently, with there first four win streak of the season and have had their players buy in to their system for seasons to come making this a force to come in the very competitive Midwest division. With new acquisitions DJ Augustine, and Axel coming in and making a very big difference, Augustine has nearly won several games for the nuggets making the crucial layups and drawing fouls. Its nearly the end of the season with 11 games left and under 5 games from playoff contention its very unlikely they make the playoffs, though it isn't out of sight and with some magic they could just possibly make it.

Finally, they're some other big news around Colorado, the Rapids are reportedly making some big strides to add some interest in the team, attempting to make a trade for US Soccer Team Goalie Tim Howard. Even I ill go see a rapids game if they bring in stars to this club, and I promise that! It's also almost time for spring baseball, well be seeing what the Rockies can do after several disappointing seasons, I expect them to come out with a couple good wins and hopefully they'll be able to keep that stride for the season.

Thank For Reading the Centennial Stream, there is much to come in the Denver sports world this year, and I hope I will be at the doorstep of all news and updates on our favorite teams.

Jonah Donaghy.
